Liberty Affordable Housing has hired the Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. for the renovation of the Olbiston Apartments in Utica; a historic apartment building built at the turn of the 20th century. The renovation project will involve reconstructing 153 units inside this 158,600 square foot, 7-story building. The historic marble floors, marble wainscoting, marble base, and wood floors will remain and be restored, and the doors and trims will be replicated to match the existing. The majority of the windows will be replaced, while the curved glass windows will be restored. Other aspects of this project include replacing both existing elevators and digging and constructing a new elevator pit inside of the existing building. After the existing structures currently connected to the building are removed a new 5-story trash room addition, and a new 1-story vestibule addition will be constructed. The stone and brick façade of the building will be cleaned, rebuilt, and repointed as necessary, and the historic cone structures on the round turrets of the building will be replicated and set into place. Gaetano Construction is excited to be a part of this project to restore this historic structure.

Gaetano Construction Corporation participated in the Groundbreaking Ceremony on Wednesday 6-22-22 for the renovation of the Olbiston Apartments in Utica; a historic apartment building built at the turn of the 20th century. Gaetano Construction has been selected as the construction manager for the renovation and reconstruction of this 158,600 square foot, 7-story building, and two additions. The project was started in April of 2022 and will be completed by the spring of 2024. Gaetano Construction is excited to be a part of this project to restore this historic structure.

On October 26,2021 we participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the ICAN Family Resource Center. Gaetano Construction has been selected as the Construction Manager for this addition and renovation project that will bring a vacant building back into service and further ICAN's mission of helping families succeed. We have been working with ICAN and CS Arch since the projects inception, through the preconstruction phase, planning and budgeting and now have crews at work executing the project. We are thankful to ICAN for choosing us as their Builder and look forward to the successful completion of this phase; and to the phase 2 build out for the new Utica Children's Museum.
On October 6, 2021 Stone Ridge Residences, formerly the Herkimer Housing Authority, cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Stone Ridge Mills Apartment Complex. Gaetano Construction was the Construction Manager for the improvements which included a new 15-unit apartment building, renovation of 48 existing units, renovation of the Community Building and construction of the new Stone Ridge Daycare center. The ribbon cutting marks the completion of phase 1. We look forward to working with Stone Ridge Residences, Edgemere Development and SWBR Architects on Phase 2 that is scheduled to start in December of 2021.

Members of the Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp., participated in the "Ground Breaking Ceremony" November 15th, for the construction of the Neighborhoods at Acacia Village, and Acacia Commons Renovations and Additions, for the Masonic Care Community of New York. The Neighborhoods at Acacia Village will provide (8) independent living cottages, (2) four unit townhomes, and a clubhouse. The Acacia Commons building will expand with (5) additions for dining, wellness, and a library and activities area. The remainder of the existing 30,000 sf Acacia Commons building will be renovated with a new layout, and new finishes throughout, including mechanicals, ceilings, flooring, and painting, food service equipment, and electrical.

Brett Babicz has been promoted to Operations Manager. Brett will manage the operations of the Project Management and Administrative Team overseeing all projects from award to final completion. Brett is a graduate of Wentworth with a degree in Construction Management and has been with Gaetano for 18yrs.

Gaetano Construction Corp. was presented with an AGC of America's Safety Excellence Award which is given to firms with impeccable records of workplace safety. The award was presented December 4, 2018 at the 32nd Annual Construction Industry Conference in Saratoga Springs, NY. Gaetano Construction is pleased to announce that on June 4th, 2018, Kristen Bailey was added to our Project Management and Pre-Construction Staff. She has a strong background in commercial construction, AutoCAD, Revit, and other enineering practices making her a valuable asset to our company. She has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University.
On Thursday, May 17th, 2018, Mike Bushardt, Chief Estimator of the Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp., participated in the "Ceremonial Ground Breaking Event" for the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) New Rehabilitation Facility, along with CABVI employees, board members, and local dignitaries. This 22,110 SF facility will provide rehabilitation services for individuals who suffer from vision loss and will include a research laboratory, a fitness center, and a pool. There will also be a 3,600 SF Garage/Storage Building.
Brett Babicz has been promoted to Project Executive. Brett will manage the operations of the Project Management and Administrative Team overseeing all projects from award to final completion. Friday, April 27th, the office staff had a Luncheon to send Steve Perez off onto a new chapter of his life – Retirement. Steve has been with Charles A. Gaetano for 38 years proving to be, one of the most energetic, problem-solving, safety conscious and considerate people in our company. He will be sorely missed, and we wish him well.

Members of the Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp., participated in the "Ground Breaking Ceremony" today the 29th of March, for the construction of the new West Street Apartments project for the Rescue Mission of Utica. This three-story 52,000 SF project will provide 36 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom affordable housing units including 11 permanent supportive housing apartments for the homeless, those at risk of homelessness, and/or formerly homeless individuals or small families. There will also be approximately 7,200 SF dedicated to Community Services programs that the Rescue Mission of Utica will operate.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the completion of the Syracuse Label & Surround Printing facility on January 19, 2017. This project involved the construction of a new 59,000 SF building that included a 49,000 Butler Building Production/Warehouse with a large 14,000 SF conventional built office area attached to the Butler building that now houses their main operations.

Saturday, October 24 2016 a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house was held celebrating Heidelberg Bakery's newly built 28,800 square foot facility. This project was constructed by Charles A. The Tompkins Chapel, located on the Masonic Care Community's campus has been completely restored and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on April 14th. The original steeple was removed, the structure reinforced and a new steeple was put in place for this 1920's era building. Charles A. Gaetano Construction was recently recognized for a significant milestone in Butler building sales and construction.
Gaetano has exceeded $20 million in Butler sales, resulting in over $200 million and nearly three million square feet of total construction projects since 1982. Gaetano is a franchised Butler builder in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties and recently added Onondaga County to their trade area.
The award was presented to David Kleps, Vice President, Design-Build and Lucas Saltsman Estimator/Project at the 2016 sales meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Friday, April 8, 2016 a ribbon cutting ceremony was held marking the opening of the new cafe and training center at the Utica First Insurance Company on Airport Road, Oriskany. Gaetano Construction was contracted to design-build this 6,000 sf addition that included a 120-person employee Cafe with full Kitchenette and new restrooms, a 90-seat state-of-the-art employee Training center as well as new Executive Conference & Dining Rooms on the Mezzanine level in the Fall of 2015.

Our company has been recognized by GCI with the "Silver" award for 2015. (Only two companies in the United States out of 60 received the Silver Award). September 1, 2014 through August 31, 2015 was a year with no recordable accidents. Our current EMR is (.83). This rate has dropped three years in a row thanks to our superintendents and their workforce.
We thank all of our employees for their attention to safety and insuring an injury-free culture on all Gaetano projects. Our safety picnic, awards, vests, shirts and our safety committee shows that we are committed to have every worker return home to their family every night safe.
Charles A Gaetano Construction, Utica NY has begun work on the new 29,000 sf Baking Facility for Heidelberg Bread. Following over a year of planning the project is underway as the very first building in the Herkimer County IDA's "Pumpkin Patch" Industrial Park located in Frankfort, NY. The building will replace the original Heidelberg plant in Herkimer which the company has outgrown due to its continued growth and high demand for the artisan bread products they have produced since 1983.
The project is being completed on a Design-Build basis that includes Site, Structural, Architectural and Mechanical/Electrical design and construction. The building includes separate Production and Packaging areas, Hi R value Insulated Metal Wall and Roof Panels, Staff offices and support facilities.
The project is scheduled to be completed in spring of 2016.
AGC of America had it 96th Annual AGC Convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 1820, 2015. The convention awarded 37 firms as the nation's safest construction companies in 2014. AGC, which oversees the Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards, an annual ranking of construction safety programs, selected the winners after dozens of firms made presentations about their safety programs during the Annual Convention. Charles A. Gaetano Construction was selected as this year's Third Place winner in the Building Division's 100,000 250,000 Work Hour Category. We were commended for taking a proactive approach by presenting guidance in safety and occupation health management, risk control, safety training, work site hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation. On March 13th David Kleps-Vice President of Design-Build, Anthony Obernesser-Vice President of Preconstruction and Mike Bushardt-Chief Estimator for Gaetano Construction, participated in the "Meet the Generals" event in Syracuse, hosted by Syracuse Builder's Exchange. This event afforded subcontractors and suppliers to meet with us in the Syracuse area.
William C. Gaetano, Executive Vice President of the Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. accepted the AGC 2014 Excellence in Partnering Award for Formal Partnering with Hamilton College. This partnering was a management process involving the Owner, Architect, Construction Manager, and Trade Contractors throughout the project where the goal was to produce a win-win situation for all parties based on good faith and fair dealings which lead to a successful build of the Kevin and Karen Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts Building.

Mr. Obernesser has been with the company since 1992 in roles of Estimator, on-site Project Manager, Chief Estimator and currently Senior Project Manager. Charles A. Gaetano Construction participated in the ground-breaking ceremony for the Community Foundation's total renovation of their new facility on Genesee Street in Utica, July 30, 2014. We are proud to announce that we have made the "Top 100" Builder list, for the second straight year, as published by Metal Construction News magazine. This is based on our strong volume of Pre-Engineered Butler buildings this past year.
We placed at #95 from builders across the entire country; only 3 builders from New York State made the list. We are having a very strong 2014 year, with several projects underway, and expect to move well up the list next year.
The kick-off ceremony for the "third" and final phase of Liberty Gardens Housing complex took place on May 9, 2014 in the Edward W. Corr Community Center. This final phase will include the rehabilitation of two 2-story masonry buildings (52 units) and the new construction of three 2-family duplex buildings.

Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority (OHSWA) has issued a press release announcing that Charles A Gaetano Construction has achieved the Authority's "Recycle One Business Certification". We are the first and only GC in the Oneida Herkimer County region to receive this certification. We are being recognized for our ongoing effort to reduce waste both in the office and the field. We have received a certification letter as well as placards and decals that we can use on our website (see the Sustainable Building Initiative's page), project signs as well as in some of our marketing information. Our thanks go out to all of our office and field staff for helping achieve this distinction.
Doyle Roarabaugh has joined the Charles A. Gaetano Construction's estimating staff. Doyle has a strong background in Commercial and Civil construction and is an experienced Estimator and Project Manager. He has a Master's degree in Environmental Biology with a Minor in Mathematics from SUNY College at Brockport. Doyle was involved with heavy highway construction as an estimator and project manager and eventually became proficient in all aspects of commercial construction. Doyle brings over 30 years of experience and knowledge making him a very valuable asset to our company.
With the completion of the Feldmeier Equipment project in Little Falls, we have now surpassed 2,500,000 sf of Butler building projects, since we acquired the franchise in 1982.

On January 14th and 15th four members of the Gaetano Construction Management Team completed the Healthcare Construction Certificate Program in Manheim, Pennsylvania. The two-day program was presented by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE). Ron Hrynuk-Superintendent, Scott Major-Superintendent, Brett Babicz-Project Manager and Steve Perez-General Superintendent earned certificates in the workshop which dealt with the construction process in healthcare facilities. On December 20, Gaetano Construction invited all subcontractor personnel associated with the Hamilton College Theater and Studio Arts Building project to join us for the presentation of the Partnering Charter. Along with Hamilton College and Joe Hogan with the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of New York, we shared coffee and doughnuts with all tradesmen and management currently working on the project. Bill Gaetano said a few words about the partnering process and how a cooperative effort makes for a successful project. Joe Hogan also came forward to read the charter and spoke about the partnering process.

The Mohawk Valley Business Journal featured an article on November 22, 2013, entitled "Gaetano Construction:Poised to grow with "Nano Utica" development", highlighting Gaetano's active role in the growth and construction of the new Quad C Nanotechnology facility located on the SUNYIT campus in Marcy.The article included expressions from the President, Brian Gaetano and Executive Vice President, William Gaetano surmising how this project will impact the economy of the Mohawk Valley. Included in this article was a comprehensive history of Gaetano's work ethics, construction projects, adaptation to industry changes involving technology, safety, and environmental responsibilities and community involvement to list a few. We are proud to receive the contract to construct a new manufacturing facility for Feldmeier Equipment in the Little Falls Riverside Industrial Park.The groundbreaking for this project was held on August 16, 2013.This 46,000 SF "Butler" building which measures 70' x 600' long and 48'high will include six 15-ton bridge cranes for this long-time Little Falls-based company that manufactures stainless steel tanks for the Dairy and Beverage industries.Project completion is scheduled in March 2014.Photo is courtesy of Little Falls Times.
The Project Team for the Hamilton College Theatre & Studio Arts building met for the second Partnering Meeting for the project on August 7, 2013. Representatives from the Owner, Architect, Construction Manager and trade contractors assembled in one of the College's lecture halls to review progress and establish goals as the job moves forward.
Partnering is a management process where the goal is to produce win-win situation for all parties based on good faith and fair dealings.
This process has been implemented on several Gaetano projects.

We have received another High Performance Builder award from Butler Manufacturing which recognizes builders who have achieved over 150% of their annual sales goals. We have received this award 29 of our 32 years as a Butler builder.
The Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. has placed in the Top 100 National Metal Building Ratings due to our large increase in Butler Building projects in 2012, (246%). We placed #88 in the top Metal Building Builders in the nation list in the Metal Construction News Annual rankings.
Wednesday night the 12th of December, Gaetano Construction hosted a Christmas dinner for their employees. The Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. recently made The American Heart Association's list for "Fit-Friendly Worksites". Businesses that receive the Fit-Friendly designation, work alongside the American Heart Association to implement on-site health and wellness programs for their employees.
Gaetano has implemented an on-site health and wellness program, including daily stretches on all projects as shown in photo.

The Ground breaking for Utica's new Multi-Modal Center took place on the corner lot of Bleecker and Charlotte Streets, Wednesday morning, April 4, 2012.This multi-million dollar facility will provide a safer transfer of bus passengers and a more comfortable and protected environment for those who are waiting and acquiring ticket information.This project is scheduled to finish late in November.

November 29, 2011 Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare (FSLH) had a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion at St. Luke's Home.This project is a multi-million dollar expansion that will include the renovation of 20,000 square feet of space and the creation of nearly 40,000 square feet which will house inpatient rehabilitation services as well as an outpatient dialysis unit.FSLH has partnered with Alesia & Crewell Architects, PC, and Charles A. Gaetano Construction for this project.
The View, formally known as the Arts Center of Old Forge, has been awarded LEED Silver by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). LEED is the Nation's leading program for design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

The ground breaking for the Liberty Gardens Housing Rehabilitation and New Construction project was held Wednesday, September 28, 2011.
Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. has been hired as the Construction Manager to rehabilitate three masonry two-story buildings and construct six new buildings at Liberty Gardens Housing in Rome, New York.This first phase will consist of rehabilitating 78 total family units.Of the 78 units there will be 14 one-bedroom, 24 two-bedroom, 35 three-bedroom and 5 four-bedroom units.Within this total, there will be 11 handicap-accessible units and 5 hearing and/or vision impairment units.
Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. was recognized as a finalist in four different categories for the "2011 A Time to Build" awards. Each finalist was profiled in "A Time to Build" special supplement of the CNY Business Journal's April 29th issue. Recently, several staff members were successful in earning the LEED Green Associate credential from the Green Building Certificate Institute. Senior Project Manager-Anthony Obernesser, Chief Estimator-Mike Bushardt, and Project Managers, Mike Kulik, Brett Babicz, Lucas Saltsman and Rob Munson all earned the LEED Green Associate designation by successfully passing the accreditation exam. Charles A Gaetano Construction recognizes their achievements as well as their knowledge and commitment to supporting green building design, construction and operations.

The event presented awards to the top construction projects in Central NY.
Gaetano received an award in the Commercial category, as First Runner-up for the Matt's Brewery, Utica, NY - Fire Reconstruction, New Warehouse, and Keg Cooler project. The criterion for this award is very strict and each company applying must have outstanding safety programs to be considered. The accomplishment of winning the award makes a profound statement about our commitment to making safety a priority. We are extremely proud of our current 85 field employees and thankful to them in applying our safety standards on each and every project. This is our 4th Safety Award; we are proud of our track record and will continue to be an industry leader in Safety.

As part of our Gaetano Green Initiative we have instituted a "new" Smoking Policy as follows:
The Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corporation has an obligation to enforce the existing New York State Clean Indoor Air Act on our job sites and to enforce our Customer's Smoking Policies on our employees and our subcontractors' employees.
The Clean Air Act applies to job sites once the roof structure is on the building and in all office and storage trailers, as well as lunch and break areas. Certain campuses may have more stringent requirements that must be followed.
New job site signs indicating the policy have been provided for the building entrances and job trailers.
The newly completed construction of American Alloy Steel, 650 Harbor Way in Rome, NY celebrated its ribbon cutting October 2, 2009.

Twenty one Delhi Students visited our office on Monday, September 21st.They sat with various project managers for an overview of how each department works and then visited (2) jobsites, SUNY IT & Masonic Boiler House.
On July 19th 2009 we held our annual Safety Picnic at 12 North Sports Bar in Marcy. This event is held to thank our superintendents and field employee's for working safe and enforcing our safety program.
In January of 2008, we relocated from Charlestown to our new home at 258 Genesee Street in downtown Utica. We now occupy the completely renovated 14,000 square-foot Mezzanine level.

Amount the major clients and projects for which Gaetano has constructed Butler pre-engineered buildings include Northern Safety Co. headquarters, Meyda Tiffany warehouse and offices, Utica Converters Manufacturing expansion, Tri-Valley Beverage beer distribution facility, the Carbone Auto's Harley Davidson dealership, the Fountainhead Group Warehouse expansion, and Fiber Instrument Sales headquarters. Gaetano has also been involved in many other local and regional projects featuring Butler Manufacturing Co. pre-engineered facilities.
New projects currently underway include a 98,000 S.F. expansion to the Nirvana Water plant in Boonville, a major expansion to PLC Trenching's maintenance building that Gaetano completed in 2006, and a new warehouse and office for the Masonic Care Community. Most projects are delivered on a design-build basis, which now has expanded to conventional buildings and renovations as well.
In recognition of the 25-year service milestone, David Kleps, Vice-President of Gaetano's Design-Build/Butler Building Division, accepted an award at a recent Butler sales meeting in Orlando, Fla. Kleps has managed the Butler business since its inception.
